Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to ask, answered
Honest answers about extensions, retention, cost, and care — the same ones we give across the treatment table in Lawrenceville and Duluth.
Before your appointment
How should I prepare for my lash appointment?
Arrive with clean, makeup-free lashes and skip caffeine right before your visit. Mascara, eyeliner, and oily skincare residue interfere with adhesive bonding, so we ask that you cleanse thoroughly or arrive bare-eyed and let us do a lash bath. Remove contact lenses if you can, silence your phone, and plan to rest with your eyes closed for 90 minutes to two and a half hours depending on your set. If you wear waterproof eye makeup regularly, stop two days before — it leaves a film that shortens retention.
Can I get lash extensions if I've never had them before?
Yes — every new-client set at Glow begins with a consultation, so first-timers are exactly who it is designed for. We assess your natural lash health, discuss the look you want, and map lengths and curls to your eye shape before applying anything. New sets include an aftercare kit and a full walkthrough of how to care for your lashes at home. Most first-time clients choose a Classic Set at $150 or a Hybrid Set at $185.
How long does a full set appointment take?
Plan for 90 minutes to two and a half hours, depending on the set. A Classic Set typically takes about two hours, Hybrid and Volume run slightly longer, and Mega Volume can reach two and a half hours because each fan is built by hand. Fills take 60 to 75 minutes. You rest with your eyes closed the entire time — many clients sleep. We never rush application, because careful isolation is what protects your natural lashes and your retention.
Do I need a patch test if I have sensitive eyes?
We recommend one. If you have a history of adhesive sensitivity, watery eyes, or reactions to eye products, book a complimentary patch test at least 48 hours before your appointment. We apply a few extensions to the outer corners and monitor for irritation. We also stock a sensitive adhesive with lower fume levels. True allergies to cyanoacrylate are uncommon but real, and it is far better to learn with four lashes than with a full set.
Lash health & safety
Do lash extensions ruin your natural lashes?
No — properly applied extensions do not damage natural lashes. Damage comes from poor technique: extensions glued to multiple natural lashes, weights too heavy for the natural hair, or clients picking extensions off. At Glow, each extension is isolated to a single natural lash and weighted to what that lash can carry, so your natural lashes grow and shed on their normal cycle. If you have thin or weakened lashes, we adjust the set or recommend a lash lift instead.
Are lash extensions safe during pregnancy?
Generally yes, with your physician's blessing — the adhesive never touches your skin and cures within seconds. The practical considerations are comfort and hormones. Lying flat for two hours can be uncomfortable in later trimesters, so we offer propped, side-supported positioning. Pregnancy hormones can also change your lash growth cycle, which sometimes affects retention. Tell us when you book so we can plan positioning, and check with your doctor if you have any pregnancy complications.
Can I wear mascara with extensions?
Please don't — mascara is the fastest way to ruin a set. It coats the adhesive bond, attracts debris, and removing it requires the kind of rubbing that pulls extensions out prematurely. Waterproof mascara is the worst offender because its removers are oil-based. The honest truth is that a well-applied volume or hybrid set makes mascara redundant. If you feel you need mascara over your extensions, tell us at your next fill — that is a design problem we can solve with curl, length, or density.
How do I clean my lash extensions?
Wash them every day with an oil-free lash shampoo, a soft cleansing brush, and lukewarm water. Work the foam gently along the lash line, rinse thoroughly, pat dry with a lint-free towel, and brush them into place with a clean spoolie. Daily cleansing is the single biggest factor in retention and lash health — oil, makeup, and skin debris break down adhesive and can lead to irritation along the lash line. Every new set at Glow includes an aftercare kit with the correct cleanser and brushes. Our aftercare guide covers the full routine.
How should I sleep with lash extensions?
Sleep on your back or side, ideally on a silk or satin pillowcase. Stomach sleeping presses lashes into the pillow for hours and is the most common cause of one eye retaining worse than the other. Silk reduces friction so lashes that do touch the pillow slide rather than snag. Some clients use a contoured sleep mask with recessed eye cups. In the first 24 hours after application, be especially mindful — the adhesive is still curing and pressure can bend brand-new extensions.
Retention & fills
How long do volume lashes last?
A full volume set lasts four to six weeks, with fills recommended every two to three weeks to keep it looking full. Extensions shed with your natural lash cycle — you lose two to five natural lashes a day, and any extension attached to them goes too. Volume sets often appear fuller longer than classic sets because multiple lightweight extensions are fanned on each natural lash, so a single shed lash is less noticeable. Daily cleansing and avoiding oils are what carry a set to the six-week mark.
How often do I need a fill?
Every two to three weeks. By then your natural shedding cycle will have released roughly a third of your extensions, and a fill restores the set to full density. At Glow, fills require at least 40 percent of your extensions remaining — below that, there is not enough foundation left and a new set gives a better result. Fill pricing runs $70 for Classic, $85 for Hybrid, $95 for Volume, and $110 for Mega Volume — see our pricing page. Booking your next fill before you leave keeps your cadence on track.
Why are my lash extensions falling out so fast?
The usual culprits are oil, steam, friction, and skipped cleansing. Oil-based skincare and makeup remover dissolve adhesive; saunas, hot yoga, and steamy showers weaken the bond; stomach sleeping and eye rubbing pull lashes out mechanically. Hormonal shifts, certain medications, and seasonal shedding in spring and fall also accelerate natural lash loss. If retention drops suddenly, bring your product list to your next fill — nine times out of ten we can identify the cause in the first few minutes.
Can you fill lashes done at another studio?
Case by case, after a quick consult. Bring your current set in and we will assess the application quality, adhesive condition, and health of your natural lashes. If the underlying work is sound, we are happy to fill it. If extensions are glued to multiple natural lashes or over-weighted, filling over the problem does more harm than good — in that case we recommend a gentle removal ($40, free with a new set) and a fresh start. Either way, you leave with an honest answer.
Booking & policies
How much do lash extensions cost in Lawrenceville, GA?
At Glow Lash Lounge in Lawrenceville, a full set runs $150 to $260: Classic $150, Hybrid $185, Volume $220, and Mega Volume $260. Fills every two to three weeks range from $70 to $110 depending on the set. New-client sets include a consultation and an aftercare kit. A lash lift is $95, or $115 with tint. Our Duluth studio uses identical pricing. Members of the Glow Circle pay $129 or $199 monthly, which includes a monthly fill plus additional benefits.
Do you require a deposit to book?
Yes, a small deposit secures your appointment and applies toward your service total. It confirms your reservation and protects the artist's time — our books fill quickly, especially weekends. Deposits transfer with your appointment if you reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations inside 24 hours incur a $30 fee, and no-shows are charged 50 percent of the booked service. Full details are on our policies page, and our booking system walks you through it at checkout.
What happens if I'm running late?
You have a 15-minute grace period. Within it, we will do everything possible to complete your full service, though we may streamline where we can. Past 15 minutes, we usually cannot finish a full set in the remaining time without compromising quality, so the appointment may be shortened, converted to a partial service, or rescheduled — and the late-cancellation policy may apply. If you are stuck in traffic on 316 or Pleasant Hill Road, call the studio; a heads-up always helps us plan.
Do you offer anything besides eyelash extensions?
Yes. Beyond extensions, we offer lash lifts ($95), lash lift and tint ($115), lash tint alone ($35), and gentle extension removal ($40, free with a new set). For brows, we offer lamination ($90), shaping ($30), tint ($30), or all three bundled for $130. Lifts and laminations suit clients who want low-maintenance definition using only their natural hair. If you are unsure which service fits your routine, book a consultation and we will map it out together.
